All about me
My name is Andrea Atanasova and I am an abstract painter from Sofia, Bulgaria.
My paintings are reflections of emotions over time. My work is intuitive, I let the emotions flow, which can help me finish a piece of art within a day or make the process really slow and finish a painting within a few months. I am process oriented and enjoy figuring out what the painting wants to do next. Every piece of art has its own life and story.
I am a self-taught artist with a background in theatre and a lot of shyness. Painting is a medium with which I can express myself, it's my way of communication.
I have always had this artistic side and a need to find myself through art, such as writing poetry, immersing myself in the world of cinema and theatre, but I did not trust myself to be an artist even when I graduated from university with a BA in theatre. And now I can say that I was too afraid to pursue acting as a career.

I started painting at the end of 2018. Out of nowhere, I decided to participate in an online abstract painting course and fell in love with this art. I rushed off to buy canvases, paints, brushes, knives etc., and to try new things and techniques. I was absolutely hooked on this world and still am. I love listening to the painting and try not to impose ideas on it. And then the results are quite curious for me, because I usually start painting without intentions and later I can see visualizations of the feelings I had at that time. That's why each artwork has a life on its own, a story that we share.
All of this brings us to 2021 when I realized what I want for myself and my life, and I finally found the strength to embrace vulnerability, to show myself and my art, to call myself an artist and let people know that. One of my paintings titled "Creation" is the visual representation and result of this process. And the other result is Yoru Studio where i can share all my artworks.
